Laika was the first dog in space, launched aboard Soviet spacecraft Sputnik 2 in 1957. Featured in several documentaries and films including 'Space Dogs' (2019). The indie band Arcade Fire wrote a song called 'Laika' as a tribute to her historic journey. Also appears as a character in the animated film 'Space Dogs' (2010).
